Turquoise water, white sandy beaches and surprisingly reliable wind. La Pelosa in northern Sardinia feels more like the Caribbean than Europe and is one of the most beautiful kite spots I've ever ridden.
Spot Guide: La Pelosa 🇮🇹
Located in northern Sardinia, this spot is famous for its stunning turquoise lagoon and reliable thermal wind. Even when the forecast looks light, the local funnel and thermal effects often boost the wind significantly, making it a great option for kitesurfing.
If you're looking for crystal-clear water, white sand and consistent wind, La Pelosa should be on your list.
What to Expect
Crystal-clear turquoise water
White sandy beaches
Frequent thermal wind
Flat water near the small islands
Incredible sunsets over the sea
Family-friendly destination
Kitesurfing at La Pelosa
Kitesurfing is officially allowed only from a designated section of the beach during the main season. Outside the busy summer months, riders sometimes launch from other areas, but once swimmers are around, restrictions are enforced.
My favorite area is near the small islands north of the beach. The wind is often stronger there and the water stays beautifully flat.
Parking & Camper Vans
La Pelosa is accessed via a one-way road with several parking options along the way. Keep in mind that blue parking spaces are paid, while the larger parking areas are usually free.
If you're travelling in a camper van, overnight stays may be possible outside the high season. For a much better experience, I recommend the nearby cliff spot overlooking the sea. Watching the sunset from there is something special.
Accommodation
La Pelosa is a popular holiday destination, so finding accommodation is easy. You'll find everything from apartments and Airbnbs to hotels close to the beach.
Final Thoughts
La Pelosa combines some of the clearest water in Europe with surprisingly reliable wind. Whether you're travelling with your family, your van or simply chasing your next kite session, this is one of those places that never disappoints.
Why travel to the Caribbean when we have this in Europe?
